STUDENT WORK
My Interaction Design classes at NIU taught me how to effectively utilize web design tools such as Figma and Wordpress. One of my projects was to create an interactive prototype website in Figma representing a village or town, featuring web pages covering topics like resident services to local tourist attractions.
The town I chose is Sheridan, WY which is where I’ve spent many years visiting my grandmother. I sought to highlight Sheridan’s numerous activities and offerings, while also providing essential information and resources for the town. This work helped teach me more about the web design process, which included creating site maps, wireframes, and integrating responsive elements into my website.

Building my site map required a good understanding of the hierarchy of pages I had. The highly visual pages about activities in Sheridan were more likely to receive traffic, causing me to arrange these pages sooner in the site’s navigation. Webpages about resident information such as housing and taxes are located further within the site map, making it useful for locals and tourists.

Having visited Sheridan many times in my life, I knew what parts I wanted to represent on my site. Wyoming is marked by mountains and plains inhabited by diverse wildlife populations, and it has a rich cultural and geological history. With that in mind, I chose to build unique pages about Sheridan’s various outdoor amenities and town offerings.

The final website features several pages populated with rich imagery, allowing users to easily navigate the site and learn more about Sheridan’s amenities and services. Having prototyped the website fully in Figma, it utilizes interactive elements that further engage the user.
